(More customer reviews)first of all, let me say that this cage came a month after i ordered it, which already put me in a bad enough mood. i have 3 little harquin/lop bunnys and theyre growing; almost about a year old and 4-5lbs each. i bought this cage because they out grew their little supper pet cage (it was obviously inevitable) and play yard; not to mention the little things were destoying my carpets. after arriving a month late, a full day's worth of assembly (which was bad in itself. make sure you have 2 people building to help with support!), and a very tired and hurt back, it was time to move in the buns. my boys are picky bunnys, just like any of their kind, but they took to their nice home well.
i bought this cage, an outdoor cage, for my living room. i live in a fairly large apartment and my only option for housing them was indoors, and this cage was the largest (3 bunnys need ROOOOOM)i could find that still looked cute. well, it wasnt as large as i hoped, but the little boys didnt seem to notice.
the first thing to break was the ledge; 1 week in it collapsed. poor little Bella was sitting on the ledge looking out of the cage at us and it snapped under her mere 4 lb frame. 4 lbs shouldnt break ledges! the next thing to go was the second floor. 2 bunnys were upstairs in their (what i call) bedroom, and Jake was below them numming away. poor jake had the whole weight of his 2 brothers plus the second floor collapse on him. i quickly put the buns into my dogs cage after making sure jake was ok (he was fine somehow) and went to see what made it fall. ...nothing... the cage somehow shifted and the plank on the top shelf (what they stand on) shifted out of the groove (no nails holding together this cage!) and fell. gratefully the top that fell on jake were more shooken up them jake himself. no bunnys were hurt, thankfully, but hopefully this is a warning to all bunny owners out there to aviod this death trap!
i am still using this cage. it was horribly expensive, and for me, the only thing i have for them. i was considering taking out the whole top floor but the bunnys wouldnt have enought room. i wanted to add a play yard for them, but due to the cages elevation, its impossible. i cant wait to get a new cage that im scared to house my bunnys in. and may i add, that using nails on this cage(other than where the directions call for it --legs and roof only) cause the wood to split.
