(More customer reviews)I've had the set for less than six months. Great design, but the salt shaker is a pain to maintain. Perhaps, it's due to the interior not being sealed, but the ceramic apparently absorbs humidity, causing the salt to solidify. Worse though is that the salt leaches through the ceramic and crystallizes on the exterior through normally unseen hairline cracks in the glaze. The salt shaker needs periodic brushing to remove these salt varicose vein-like formations. Note that my use of the set has been during Winter and now Spring, humidity hasn't been that significant, and the salt hardening and crystallization occurs whether the set is kept in the kitchen or in the dining room.
After notifying Waechtersbach USA of the issue, Waechtersbach was kind enough to replace the original set at no cost to me. Hopefully, the original set had an isolated defect. I'll advise further after the replacement set has been put into use.
